Our Explore Yellowstone Like A Local guidebook is the top selling guidebook for both parks and our podcasts of the same name are the number one rated podcasts for Yellowstone in just one year. Explore Yellowstone Like A Local was launched in 2019 with one goal in mind. To get our clients off the beaten path and away from the crowds so they can experience the most unique adventures possible while they are on vacation to Yellowstone.
The guidebook and podcasts will get you to not only the big ticket items such as the Lower Falls and Old Faithful, they will also and far more importantly, get you away from all the crowds and to some special, secret hidden places that are known only to locals.
You will find out where you can get underneath a waterfall with water pouring all over you, the best places to get into a hot pot and how and where to get to some hidden geyser basins. And you will have all of these fun and exciting activities entirely to yourself for as long as you want them.
The guidebook has 16 full one day adventures to choose from including a months worth of the best hikes in both parks. Teddy's family has been visiting the Yellowstone area since 1919 and Teddy has nearly 50 years of experience in the area and has been inside Yellowstone Park thousands of times. The podcasts and guidebook share all of this knowledge with you. And when used in conjunction with each other, they make it easy to plan your days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
At nearly 70 full size pages and loaded with color pictures, the guidebook shares Teddy's knowledge with you and instructs you on how to break the simply enormous size of Yellowstone Park down into manageable bites so you can have the best, most stress-free vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Teton possible and you can do it entirely on your own.
While the parks are great, the traffic and crowds can be overwhelming and very stressful day after day. And there are a lot of really fun things to do outside the parks that are simply not allowed inside the parks. Everything outside the parks is traffic free and pet friendly (see below).
Outside the parks, you can take your pet on a walk to a high mountain lake, mountain bike along the beautiful CDT Trail or to the very seldom seen Cliff, Goose and Otter Lakes, float down the Madison or Gallatin Rivers, paddle a kayak on a stream or across a lake so clear, it looks like you are floating in mid air. You can drive a side-by-side unit up and down 400'tall sand dunes or on the best trails in the US. And all these fun activities are NOT allowed in the parks.
Additionally, ALL our tours are private. It will be you, your family or group on our tours and that's it. You won't have to share your day with any other tourists. And we can customize your tour to fit your needs and desires. We provide snacks and bottled water on every tour but we can provide full lunches with wine, cheese and whatever it may be that you want on your personalized tour and all tours will be led by Teddy himself, so you will get all his knowledge first-hand while you are on your tour.
If any of this interest you, simply go to the LOCAL TOURS Section where you will find much more detailed information of all the really great tours, plus pictures that you can book with Teddy as your guide.
While your furry friend is welcome to ride with you in your car inside both Yellowstone and Grand Teton, pets are NOT allowed on any trail or boardwalk park wide while you visit either park. In a nutshell, you can let Fido out of your car to relieve himself but you must put him right back in the car or you risk getting a NPS ticket.
There is a good reason for this law- dogs carry diseases that they have long become immune to but if they get transferred to any of the wild animals in the parks, the results could be devastating to the wildlife. Hence the big ticket.
But outside the parks, no such rule applies and your pet is welcome to come along with us on any of our tours, and we will make every accommodation possible to make sure they too have a great time.
Know this, when you book a tour with Teddy as your guide, you will be Exploring Like A Local!
We are a small local tour guide service based out of West Yellowstone Montana and we will keep it that way. We will not combine groups-you, your family or your group will be the only people in the tour and we have a maximum group size of 12 people.
We offer very personalized service, from planning the itinerary to the tour itself. Due to this, there is very limited availability, so book early.
***Please note that your groups' fitness levels will determine where we can and cannot go as some of the tours are easy but some are strenuous and difficult.
We offer tours for everyone from thrill seekers to those of you who simply want to enjoy a quiet stress free day. Simply go the LOAL TOURS section of the website and you will find all the information needed to select just the right tour for you or your group. If you see anything you would like to modify, shoot us a message and we will work with you to get it just right!
